My Partner Is Pressuring Me to Have an Abortion, But I’m Not Sure

09/01/2026

Sadly, you aren’t alone if you’re feeling pressured into having an abortion. A study from 2023 found that 24% of women who chose abortion felt some form of pressure or coercion.

Another 43% accepted the choice even though it went against their preference. Altogether, 67% described their abortions as inconsistent with their values or preferences, unwanted, or coerced.

How you handle your pregnancy needs to be your decision, and yours alone. Your partner’s opinion is important, but no one has the right to demand you make one decision over another.

Why not learn about all of your options before choosing? Contact Crystal Women’s Clinic to schedule a free, confidential appointment. We’ll give you the confidence to choose for yourself.

What Are My Options?

You have three options: have an abortion, make an adoption plan, or choose to parent. Let’s take a quick look at all three.

Have an Abortion

How far along you are in your pregnancy usually determines the abortion procedure you qualify for. The FDA approves the use of the abortion drugs only through 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Do you know how many weeks and days you’ve been pregnant? If you’re not sure, we recommend getting an ultrasound scan.

Crystal Women’s Clinic offers free pre-abortion testing. The test includes a lab-grade pregnancy test, a limited obstetrical ultrasound, limited STI testing, and a medical consultation. You will have all the information you need to determine if you qualify for an abortion.

Choose to Parent

We imagine parenting is out of the question for your partner, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible for you. Although it may seem unthinkable, you would be surprised at the many services available to assist you.

Here are just a few of the programs designed to help single mothers and their children:

With support and care, parenting is possible.

Make an Adoption Plan

If neither you nor your partner wishes to parent, and you don’t want an abortion, placing your child for adoption may be the perfect solution. Making an adoption plan can be emotionally challenging, but as the expectant mother, you get to make all of the decisions.
